The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has recognized the media as a vital partner in Nigeria’s efforts to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic. At the End-of-Year Media Party, NACA Director-General Dr. Temitope Ilori expressed gratitude for the media’s role in raising awareness and fostering critical discussions.

“The media’s unwavering support ensures HIV/AIDS remains a daily topic of national discourse,” Ilori said. She also pointed to significant milestones, including the success of prevention conferences, the launch of the PMTCT (Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission) acceleration plan, and collaborations with traditional leaders, faith-based organizations, and technical working groups.

Ilori reiterated NACA’s commitment to achieving an HIV-free generation by 2030 and stressed the importance of continued media collaboration. “Our prevention and treatment messages rely on the media’s reach. Together, we’ve made remarkable strides, and we pledge to sustain this vital partnership,” she added.

Deputy Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Toyin Aderibigbe, acknowledged the media’s impactful contributions. “This gathering is about appreciation and reflection. We look forward to an even stronger partnership in the coming year,” she said.

The event celebrated the achievements made possible through media support and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to leveraging partnerships for progress.
