In a bid to promote food security and enhance agricultural production, Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has distributed 30 new tractors to farmer groups across the state’s 13 local government areas. This initiative is part of the state government’s efforts to transition from traditional farming to mechanized agriculture.
The governor announced the distribution at the Government House in Lafia, where assorted vehicles and motorcycles were also handed over to farmer groups, security agencies, and various ministries, departments, and agencies. According to Sule, the distribution aims to boost food production, enhance security operations, and improve government functionality in the state.
The tractors are expected to enhance agricultural production and the value chain in the state. This move is an attestation to the governor’s commitment to improving the lives of farmers and residents in Nasarawa State. Previously, the state government had unveiled 23 tractors and farm inputs to 10,000 farmers, demonstrating its dedication to achieving food security.
In addition to the tractors, the state government also distributed various vehicles to support the operations of ministries, departments, and agencies. These vehicles include 10 JAC Pick-Up vans, four Toyota Hilux vans, two 18-seater buses, two Toyota Camry cars, five Volkswagen Sharan vehicles, one towing truck, and one ambulance.
Governor Sule emphasized the importance of proper utilization of the distributed vehicles and motorcycles, urging beneficiaries to justify the state government’s efforts in launching this empowerment program. He acknowledged the dedication of the state’s MDAs as the driving force behind the implementation of government policies and programs.
The Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government, Muhammad Ubandoma-Aliyu, expressed gratitude to Governor Sule for prioritizing the welfare of all residents. This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s agricultural sector and overall economy. With the distribution of these tractors and vehicles, Nasarawa State is taking a significant step towards achieving food security and sustainable development.
