Dynamo Group of Companies has flagged off a bold initiative, ‘Operation Agriculture by Force,’ aimed at tackling poverty and food insecurity amid Nigeria’s economic challenges. The launch event, held at the company’s headquarters in Awka, Anambra State, drew government officials, business leaders, and educators who commended the effort. The company’s Managing Director, Aneto Onyema, highlighted the importance of reviving Nigeria’s agricultural spirit, urging a return to cultivating high-value economic crops like coconut, which offers substantial income potential. According to Onyema, one coconut tree can yield over 200 coconuts in just two years, providing an opportunity for sustainable income on arable land.
Dynamo Group’s agricultural estates, including locations in Abuja and Delta, are designed as ‘Real Estate Agricultural Mix’ developments, strategically merging farming and residential use. This model not only promotes food production but also introduces an additional income stream for landowners. Onyema emphasized that the initiative aligns with Nigeria’s goals of reducing poverty and hunger by transforming accessible land into productive agricultural ventures.
Notably, the initiative received strong support from government representatives. Dr. Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser to the Anambra State Governor on Youth Empowerment, and Chukwuebuka Igwe, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, praised the project for aligning with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ‘Farm to Feed’ program, which is focused on addressing the state’s food security issues. They encouraged young people to participate in agriculture, recognizing its role in building a resilient economy.
Representatives from academia also lauded the project, emphasizing its potential to mitigate the national food crisis. Prof. Vivian Nwogbo, Dean of the Faculty of Education at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, urged stakeholders to support the initiative, highlighting its capacity to revive the economy, create jobs, and enhance food security across communities. She expressed hope that other organizations would replicate Dynamo Group’s model to address Nigeria’s food challenges.
The event concluded with the presentation of Malaysian high-breed palm seedlings to attendees, symbolizing a commitment to agricultural growth. Attendees were invited to sign a banner commemorating their involvement in the launch. This forward-thinking approach by Dynamo Group seeks to inspire both community members and industry leaders to recognize agriculture as a viable path to poverty reduction and economic stability in Nigeria.
