Civic Hive: Press Release
Civic Hive, a Civic Tech organization dedicated to fostering civic engagement and participatory governance through innovative technology and programs that support the development of Civic Tech initiatives is thrilled to announce the call for the 2024 Civic Tech Fellowship, an initiative designed to spotlight and incubate innovative solutions for social issues through technology. This year, the fellowship focuses on thematic areas such as Artificial Intelligence for Good, Climate Advocacy, and Technology for Health, Civic Education, and Justice.
Kicking off in September 2024, the fellowship will start with a series of regional hackathons aimed at energizing tech-driven, grassroots initiatives across Nigeria. We’re heading to Lagos, Kano, and Port Harcourt, where 30 passionate innovators in each city will have the chance to develop and pitch their ideas aligned with our thematic focus.
Applications are open from August 1 to August 15, 2024. We encourage tech enthusiasts, especially those from Kano, Port Harcourt, and surrounding areas, to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to make a real impact.
“We’re thrilled to launch the 2024 Civic Tech Fellowship,” said Joseph Amenghawon, Head of Civic Hive. “This initiative underscores our dedication to empowering the next wave of civic-tech leaders in Nigeria. We’re eager to support innovative solutions that can address critical societal challenges and spark meaningful change.”
The fellowship will culminate in a three-month incubation period for the top 12 selected fellows. During this time, they’ll receive mentorship, resources, and training to help turn their ideas into viable products. The journey will wrap up with a Demo Day where fellows will showcase their projects, marking a significant milestone in their development and connecting them with potential partners and stakeholders.
