Oral health, often overlooked, is a crucial aspect of overall well-being. To raise awareness and expand access to oral healthcare in Nigeria, experts in the dentistry field are urging a collaborative approach between the public and private sectors.

Speaking during a Press Conference in Lagos, the Founder and CEO of Smile360, Amy Shumbusho, stated that Project Smile is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at providing free dental services to nine Nigerians. The project, valued at over N1 million, offers tooth cleaning and specialized oral care treatments.

The beneficiaries were selected from a pool of over 200 applicants. While Smile360 is committed to improving oral health, Shumbusho emphasized the importance of partnerships with other oral healthcare providers to accelerate impact and reach a wider audience.

Amaka Umolu, another dental expert, stressed on the financial implications of expanding access to oral healthcare  while advocating for increased involvement from both the private sector and the government to ensure wider reach and affordability.

One of the beneficiaries, Sophia Enoch, expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by Project Smile. She believes the improved oral health will positively impact her career as a content creator.
