The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to consumer protection and food safety, urging stakeholders in the food industry to prioritise safe practices across the value chain.
This was the focus of the 2025 Food Safety Workshop held on Tuesday in Lagos, organised in partnership with DIDONI Company Limited. The event, themed “Food Safety First: Protecting Consumers, Empowering Industries,” brought together regulators, manufacturers, scientists, and public health experts to tackle growing concerns over food quality and safety compliance.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director General of the Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Mojola, stressed the importance of integrating food safety into both health and industrial policies.
“Protecting the public from food-borne risks is not negotiable. It demands joint efforts from the government, industry players, and consumers,” he said.
Mojola praised DIDONI for its collaboration and reiterated Lagos State’s commitment to building a regulatory environment that supports industry growth while safeguarding consumer health.
Also speaking, Adekola Joseph, CEO of DIDONI Company Limited, said food safety failures can have devastating consequences, including health risks, economic setbacks, and loss of consumer trust.
“This workshop is a wake-up call for stakeholders to embed food safety into every stage of their operations,” he stated.
The event featured panel sessions, technical discussions, and real-life case studies on processing, packaging, and regulatory best practices. Participants highlighted the need for vigilance to avoid food recalls, legal battles, and brand damage.
