Invictus Africa Seeks Experienced Public Health Researchers for Women’s Health Project in Nigeria

Organization: Invictus Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting human rights and gender equality through data-driven advocacy. We leverage digital technology, engage stakeholders, and build capacity to drive meaningful change.

Location: Nigeria: All 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Status: Contract

Research Scope: The Women’s Health Project (WHP) aims to strengthen the evidence base for women’s health, influencing policy, funding, decision-making, and actions that enhance family planning and maternal, newborn, and child health (FP/MNCH) outcomes in Nigeria.

Research Details:
Researchers across Nigeria’s 36 states and the FCT will collect data to inform two key annual reports:

  • The Women’s Health Index (WHI): A data-driven, evidence-based performance evaluation of subnational governments, assessing their efforts in ensuring women’s access to adequate healthcare, particularly FP/MNCH services.
  • The PHC Readiness Index (PRI): An annual assessment of primary healthcare (PHC) readiness in five states (Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Lagos) to deliver essential services for women and girls.

These reports will provide actionable recommendations to governments, policymakers, and stakeholders, aiming to improve health outcomes for women, particularly in marginalized communities across Nigeria.

Requirements:
We are seeking experienced public health researchers with skills in data collection, analysis, desk research, evidence gathering, and excellent report writing. Prior experience in similar research is highly desirable.

Education:
Master’s in Public Health or a relevant health-related field.

Skills:

  • At least three years of experience in public health research and data analysis, preferably in FP/MNCH.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Excel, KoboCollect, and at least one statistical software (SPSS, STATA, or R).
  • Strong ability to analyze complex data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent written communication skills.

Essential Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of FP/MNCH.
  • Familiarity with state and federal health policies, laws, and programs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English).
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to data integrity.
