Oyo Tech Hub has trained over 300 boys and girls in digital literacy, equipping them with essential technology skills to explore career opportunities in the tech industry. The event, held in Oyo Town, featured hands-on sessions, interactive workshops, and a keynote address by UK-based cybersecurity expert and Oyo Tech Hub’s Chief IT Security Advisor, Abiodun Adegbola.
During his virtual address, Adegbola inspired participants with his journey in technology, emphasizing the importance of curiosity and continuous learning. “The tech industry is ever-evolving. Staying curious and persistent is key to success,” he advised, encouraging attendees to complete their IT Fundamentals modules as part of their growth journey.
The highlight of the event was the launch of the IT Fundamentals curriculum, presented by Ibukun Atoro, Managing Partner and Digital Transformation Leader at Oyo Tech Hub. The curriculum covers essential topics like computer basics, coding, internet literacy, and cybersecurity awareness. Atoro described the program as “a bridge to opportunities, empowering young learners to thrive as creators and innovators.”
Programme Coordinator Adetola Adeyemi underscored the hub’s commitment to inclusivity and its mission to inspire a new generation of tech leaders. She noted that the hub’s approach focuses equally on boys and girls, aiming to encourage more young women to enter fields often dominated by men.
Participants expressed excitement about the program. Thirteen-year-old Fatima, one of the attendees, said, “I never imagined learning to code could be this much fun. I want to build apps someday.” With a focus on practical skills and mentorship, the Oyo Tech Hub initiative is shaping a future of digital-savvy innovators ready to transform their communities.
