The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has flagged off its third-quarter nationwide enlightenment campaign aimed at deepening public understanding of government policies, national values, security awareness, and disaster preparedness.
The exercise was formally launched on September 4 at the agency’s conference hall in Owerri, Imo State, as part of a coordinated campaign running across the 36 states and 774 local government areas of the country.
Speaking at the event, the Director General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, represented by the National Director of Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilisation, Theresa Mmaduekwe, said the sensitisation drive was designed to create interactive platforms where citizens can engage government policies directly, share their views, and seek clarifications on issues that concern them.

“In this third-quarter sensitisation exercise, we are engaging the public to further understand key government programmes such as the Student Loan Scheme, Social Safety Nets Expansion, Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, National Youth Investment Fund, among others,” Mmaduekwe explained.
She added that the campaign would be delivered through town hall meetings, advocacy visits, school outreach, and engagements with traditional rulers and other key stakeholders across communities.

Imo State Director of NOA, Mrs. Stella Maris Damian-Igwe, urged the media, civil society organisations, traditional and religious leaders, and the general public to support the initiative. According to her, widespread collaboration will ensure that the messages resonate in every home and community across the state.
“Our coordinated national awakening speaks to the very heart of our identity, values, safety, and development as a people. It is built on five thematic areas: national identity and symbols, flood mitigation, government programmes and activities, national security, and combating extreme social practices,” she said.
The agency emphasised that the campaign is not only about raising awareness but also about addressing real challenges facing both Imo State and Nigeria at large.
