Nigeria Set to Showcase Homegrown Innovation at Manufacturing, Raw Materials Expo

Post Date : July 21, 2025

The 2025 edition of the Nigeria Manufacturing and Equipment (NME) and Nigerian Raw Materials (NIRAM) Expo will place a strong emphasis on promoting indigenous technology as a catalyst for sustainable local manufacturing, aligning with the Federal Government’s ‘Nigeria First’ policy.

Jointly organised by the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), this year’s expo is themed “Accelerating Sustainable Manufacturing through Cutting-edge Technology Solutions.” The event is scheduled to take place from August 5 to 7, 2025, in Lagos.

Speaking ahead of the event, MAN President, Francis Meshioye, said the expo would serve as a strategic platform for showcasing locally made machinery, raw materials, and inventions that can transform the nation’s industrial landscape.

“We want to drive conversations around ‘Nigeria First’ by presenting dignitaries and participants with innovations within our reach—local equipment, raw materials, and ideas that can change our production processes,” Meshioye stated. “The entire manufacturing value chain will be represented.”

Director General of MAN, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, emphasized the importance of co-creating technologies that fit Nigeria’s unique production needs. “True resilience lies in homegrown innovation,” he said. “Even if certain foreign technologies are not immediately replaceable, local collaboration can produce adapted versions suitable for our realities.”

Also speaking, RMRDC Director General, Prof. Martin Muonso—represented by Dr Edith Obi, Overseeing Director of State Industrial Extension Services—stressed the need to utilize Nigeria’s vast raw material base for national self-reliance. He pointed to the Value Addition Bill, which mandates that no raw material should be exported without at least 30% local processing, and noted it is currently awaiting final approval.

“This expo is about harnessing and showcasing our potential. We must process what we have and add value before export. We are building a future where Nigerian-made products are celebrated globally,” Muonso said.

Organisers say the 2025 expo will bring together manufacturers, equipment suppliers, innovators, and government officials to forge new partnerships and strategies for accelerating Nigeria’s industrial growth through local content and technology-driven solutions.
