The Lagos State Government has reiterated its resolve to equip young Nigerians with 21st-century skills, particularly in the healthcare and education sectors.

This assurance was given during the third matriculation ceremony of the Lagos State College of Nursing, Igando, for the 2024/2025 academic session. The event marked a new chapter for the institution, especially with the appointment of a new provost.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Adeniran Kasali, highlighted the administration’s focus on producing technically sound professionals through investments aligned with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda.

Kasali urged the new students to embrace innovation and technology as essential tools for success in today’s globalised world. “The 21st century demands creativity, resilience, and technical competence. Stay focused and driven,” he advised.

The college’s Provost, Dr. Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa, charged the students to pursue excellence by taking full advantage of the academic and professional support available to them. She encouraged them to make the most of mentorship, entrepreneurship programmes, clinical training, and academic advisory services to shape their futures.

The ceremony reflected the government’s broader agenda to boost human capital development and strengthen Lagos State’s healthcare system through world-class training institutions.
