The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a three-day weather forecast, warning of thunderstorms and rainfall across much of the country from Wednesday through Friday.
In its outlook released Tuesday, NiMet predicted early morning thunderstorms in parts of Taraba, Kaduna, and Adamawa states on Wednesday, with broader storms expected later in the day across Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Sokoto, and other northern states.
The North Central region, including Abuja, Nasarawa, and Niger, is also expected to experience morning and afternoon thunderstorms. Southern states like Ondo, Ekiti, and Edo may see early rain, followed by widespread afternoon thunderstorms across most of the South, including Rivers, Delta, Lagos, and Cross River.
The weather pattern is expected to persist on Thursday and Friday, with repeated thunderstorms forecast for the North, North Central, and Southern regions.
NiMet advised residents to secure loose objects and avoid driving during heavy rain. It also warned of strong winds that may accompany storms and urged airline operators to seek up-to-date flight-specific weather reports for safe operations.
