The Executive Director of Corporate Services at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ifedayo Abegunde, has called on  organisations and the elite to extend support to the underprivileged, particularly elderly citizens.

Abegunde made the appeal during a visit to the Home for the Elderly in Port Harcourt, managed by the Catholic Church. The visit marked his 70th birthday and included the donation of essential items such as rice, beans, yams, noodles, toiletries, and cash to the facility.

Speaking at the event, Abegunde expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve humanity through his role at the NDDC. He emphasized the importance of giving back to society and prayed for blessings upon the elderly.

Boma Iyaye, NDDC’s Executive Director of Finance and Administration, highlighted the role of organisations in supporting the less privileged and commended Abegunde for his impactful contributions to public service and community development.

Receiving the donations, Mary-Jane Raphael, patron of the home, thanked the NDDC for addressing some of their challenges. She appealed for further assistance, particularly in improving infrastructure at the facility.

During a thanksgiving service, Tony Okocha, Rivers State Representative on the NDDC Board, praised Abegunde’s leadership and philanthropy, citing his dedication to uplifting vulnerable communities in the Niger Delta.
