Over 2,000 food vendors from nine states in Nigeria have been equipped with skills to improve their businesses at the ninth edition of the Business of Food Series, an initiative by Nestlé Professional.

The program focused on cost-effective and nutritious alternatives to help food vendors sustain their businesses amid rising economic challenges. Participants were introduced to Maggi Soya Chunks, a new protein-rich product designed to provide affordable nutrition.

Funmi Osineye, Business Manager of Nestlé Professional Nigeria, emphasized the company’s dedication to supporting local vendors with innovative solutions. “At Nestlé Professional, we are committed to empowering local food vendors with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. By introducing Maggi Soya Chunks, we aim to provide an affordable and nutritious alternative that supports their businesses and promotes healthier eating habits,” she said.

Nestlé Professional, the out-of-home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, highlighted that the Maggi Soya Chunks are a texturized soy-based protein. With one pack providing sufficient protein and nutrition for eight people, it offers a cost-effective alternative for food vendors, chefs, and event planners.

Osineye noted that food vendors play a crucial role in providing daily meals in urban areas but face increasing pressure to balance affordability and nutrition due to rising costs. She emphasized that affordable products like Maggi Soya Chunks allow vendors to remain profitable without compromising on quality.

Osaretin Okao, Managing Director of Food Bizz Support Services, encouraged food vendors to remain adaptable and innovative by incorporating affordable, nutritious ingredients into their offerings. “Managing a successful food business requires adaptability and a willingness to embrace new opportunities,” Okao said.

The Business of Food Series continues to serve as a platform to empower food vendors with practical knowledge and tools, helping them improve their businesses while providing nutritious meals to communities.
