The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) is embarking on a significant partnership with the Defence Space Administration (DSA) to foster innovative solutions aimed at enhancing national development.
This collaboration was announced during a visit by NASRDA’s Director General, Dr. Matthew Adepoju, to the DSA Headquarters in Abuja. The joint efforts reflect a growing commitment to leverage space technology as a catalyst for progress in Nigeria.
Dr. Adepoju emphasized the vital role of space technology in today’s society, stating, “NASRDA is committed to working with relevant sectors to strengthen and regulate Nigeria’s space industry for the growth and development of the nation.” This partnership aims to address critical areas such as data sharing, integration of data centers, and the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. By doing so, both agencies aim to create a more robust space ecosystem that can effectively support Nigeria’s development goals.
The collaboration is particularly timely as NASRDA seeks to enhance the advancement of space technology across Africa. Dr. Adepoju outlined plans to securely store data for mutual benefits, highlighting that “NASRDA will work with the Defence Space Administration in areas of data sharing, data centre integration, and ICT infrastructure.” This strategic focus aligns with global trends, where countries are increasingly utilizing space technology to solve local challenges and improve national security.
