Background
ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) is committed to addressing poverty and injustice by promoting gender equality and empowering individuals to challenge unequal power dynamics. We focus on eliminating practices that restrict participation and access to resources, particularly those that perpetuate patriarchal norms and undermine women’s rights. Through our rights-based approach, we aim to contribute to social justice for all.
As ActionAid Nigeria prepares to implement its new 2024-2034 Country Strategy Paper, it is essential to establish systems for effectively monitoring and evaluating progress. To achieve this, we plan to conduct a capacity-building training program for our program managers and staff. This initiative aims to enhance their skills in monitoring and evaluation (M&E) to improve program management and ensure data-driven decision-making.
We are seeking a professional development consultancy firm to facilitate this 5-day training to provide our team with the necessary tools and knowledge for effective M&E practices.
Objective
The goal of this consultancy is to provide comprehensive training on Monitoring and Evaluation. The aim is to strengthen the ability of AAN managers to develop, assess, and apply performance and impact indicators and equip them with essential M&E tools and methodologies for projects funded and conducted by the organization.
Scope of Work
The selected consultancy firm will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing an inception report detailing the assignment understanding and M&E framework.
- Conducting a pre-training assessment to gauge current M&E knowledge among managers.
- Developing a tailored training curriculum specific to AAN’s program managers.
- Creating a detailed training agenda, lesson plans, and training materials, including presentations and exercises.
- Delivering interactive training sessions using workshops, case studies, and hands-on activities.
- Reviewing AAN’s data collection and reporting processes, aligning them with the M&E logframe.
- Providing M&E tools, templates, and systems relevant to AAN’s operational needs.
- Submitting all training materials (handouts, presentations, and reference documents).
- Producing a final report summarizing the training, feedback, and recommendations for improving M&E capabilities.
Deliverables
The consultancy firm will deliver the following:
- A tailored M&E training curriculum and session plans.
- Training materials in both electronic and printed formats.
- A training report detailing participation, feedback, and recommendations for improvement.
- Certification for each participant completing the course.
Reporting and Coordination
The firm will report to the Impact Assessment and Shared Learning (IASL) Manager at ActionAid Nigeria for progress updates and coordination.
Qualifications and Experience
The consultancy firm must demonstrate:
- Strong expertise in M&E methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Experience working with organizations similar to ActionAid Nigeria.
- Proven facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to deliver high-quality training within specified timelines.
Proposal Submission
Interested firms should submit a proposal including:
- A company profile detailing relevant experience.
- Proposed methodology and approach for the training.
- A budget breakdown covering training costs, materials, travel (if applicable), and taxes.
- CVs of key personnel involved in the consultancy.
Terms of Offer
- The consultancy will be engaged after a shortlisting and interview process, with approval from the Director of Programmes.
- The contract will run from October 14th to 31st, 2024.
- A 50% payment will be made before commencement, and the remaining 50% upon satisfactory completion and submission of the final report.
- AAN will deduct 5% withholding tax for remittance to the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
- All outputs from the consultancy will remain the property of ActionAid Nigeria.
